A Comprehensive Design Environment

What if you could begin your design project with a blank sheet of paper, proceed through detailed design, system integration, maintenance, and end-of-life, and always use the same design tool?  iCAD SX provides a fully integrated design environment that takes you from the very first conceptual design to end-of-life.

Focused on Machinery Design for Over Three Decades

iCAD SX benefits from over 30 years of development and a focus on meeting the requirements of machinery production design projects with demanding requirements. Customer requests have flowed into iCAD SX feature sets from the beginning.  The result is a unified, comprehensive design tool tailor-made for its clients.  Due to an intense development focus on machinery production design, the iCAD team has developed solutions that general-purpose mechanical CAD packages cannot deliver. With their dedication to their customer needs, the iCAD development team has delivered generation after generation of iCAD SX with features that make designers and engineering teams more effective.

From Back-of-the-Napkin to End-of-Life

Efficient Conceptual Design

iCAD SX allows engineers to begin with a blank sheet of paper. It facilitates fast conceptual design with tools that facilitate design layouts. iCAD SX supports 2D and 3D data in the same environment. It has efficient tools to generate geometry.  It lets engineers create designs with a level of detail specific to their needs. iCAD SX enables engineers to iterate on designs. Through design iteration, the engineer incrementally adds detail when it makes sense for the project.

Optimized for Large-scale Designs

What if you could begin your design project with a blank sheet of paper, proceed through detailed design, system integration, maintenance, and end-of-life, and always use the same design tool?  iCAD SX provides a fully integrated design environment that takes you from the very first conceptual design to end-of-life. As your project grows, iCAD SX grows with you. When designs grow in size and detail, iCAD SX doesn’t slow down. Because iCAD developers have focused on the needs of their clients, iCAD SX has an Ultra-fast CAD engine that is fine-tuned for machinery production design.

iCAD’s Ultra-fast CAD Engine

The CAD engine is highly optimized. The design database is highly optimized. These optimizations allow iCAD SX customers to work with large-scale designs that contain 100s of thousands of parts yet maintain a fluid, responsive design environment. iCAD developers primarily use Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) techniques to optimize the CAD engine and database.  CSG techniques are well suited for machinery design projects. This is in contrast to Bezier curves and B-Spline representations of CAD geometry. Bezier curves were invented, literally, to accommodate complex surface representation required for automotive styling and design. By focusing on the needs of engineers in machinery design, iCAD’s optimized CAD engine, with a very efficient CSG database, lets engineers load, edit, and analyze a production station, a production line, and even an entire production facility.

Meeting Challenges For Machinery Design

iCAD SX provides customers with the functionality they need for the entire project.  This comprehensive design environment integrates key features for analysis, CAE, control systems, and electrical systems.

iCAD implements structural calculations, cabling functions, and control system programming. There is no need to use an “interoperable” tool or to manage extraneous data transfer problems. The tools are part of your core design environment.
